stuff on my art table.

Various crap on that's been lying on my art table for waaaaaay too long.

Above are few quickie Maxx sketches for a few prints left over from Boston...

A Jungle Kitty to go along with the Heffalump.

Here's something i'll work into a future comic somewhere..

Can never go wrong ..

... with a tree stump.

Before and after.

Okay.

Now... for no apparent reason...

a Rhino.

..various Cities and Shapes . . .

Here are two magic city images.. from the Twout-a-verse..
(sometimes spelled with a W, sometimes with an R)

Older progress sketches of the same city..

Right is the first "Bimbo Wall" version that was published in the 'Worlds' book, and a larger version I'm still tweaking.

Here's the bigger version...

Build it up with clay and cut through the bristol board,

Here's the faux  "stained glass" effect added with paper..

This is a lot of trouble to go thru to get a light shinning through "window" effect, which could be done faster digitally, but what the heck.

Here it is with a flashlight shoved behind it.

I don't know why I'm wasting my time with this nonsense.  But obviously i seem to enjoy it.

Oops, i notice i didn't extend the yellow "glass" to the edges, better fix that too. I'm not sure this was really successful, building it up, adding a light,

but - hey... it was a fun experiment to try.

More assorted Nola panels..

Another Nola spread.

You know, i never noticed before, but here's that same spiral shape again, same as the Bimbo Wall has. I always seem to gravitate to certain shapes,

maybe it all goes back to Zero-girl.

Batman sketch, another Tree... and a few Prints.

 a TREE....

yes, another one...

I ran out of ink today,

but i happened across a big-ass bottle of Sumi ink my old friend Leigh Dragoon gave me a few years back,

I dug out the empty Higgins bottle i had... and brilliantly poured the Sumi in into it.

So thankfully, i was able to draw this tree today.

Shows what an action-packed life i have, eh?

------

BATS....

Yesterday, i finished that higgens ink on this not-to-shabby batman sketch.... trapped here in a plastic bag. I did for a friend.  Swapping sketch's with each other on is common among artists, obviously it's one those blank comic covers deals.

Now i just have to mail the sucker out to him, before it gets lost in all the usual studio clutter.

-------

PRINTS...

Yuppers, there's still a few prints from Boson.

You can buy them here, ... but please don't feel obligated, but i just didn't want anyone who couldn't make it out to the Boston show... feeling excluded.  Not shaming the flippers, but it does my heart good to know, most fans who buy it will probably will keep it.

Also MUCH Thanks to all the generous sentiments from various fans expressed too me who wrote in at Chickens email .

If you don't know what i mean, please skimp down to the bottom of my last post, for the email link to the Chickens email link.. or just go to the Chickens site itself.

Take care,
- Sam

Post Boston comic con stuff... and yet another New Maxx Cover.

Back from Boston, didn't get a chance to take many pics myself, but i'm sure fans will post those online eventually..

Here's the huge banner which hung behind me at the booth..

Here's one book my friend Joseph Melchior managed to take of a fan's cool message to me.

Totally cool.

Hope they don't mind my throwing their message up here..

My apologies to anyone else whom my lateness, and plan delays caused troubles on Friday. If you read here  ... this gives you an idea why my flight never came in.

Overall, I it seems like everyone seemed happy to stop by, and it is so not lost on me how many miles some of you had traveled.  That is why I stayed up all night at the airport to snag the next 7am flight, out of respect for all of you who've made the pilgrimage yourselves.  Feels like I lived a thousand lifetimes during this weekend, so much positive stuff!

Thanks to all of you… I feel totally reinvigorated by all the warm, kind, cool & friendly folks who stopped by to see me.

The were four prints, three done on normal card stock.

And the one on the left, is a New Image, done just for Boston... printed higher quality paper.

Here it is up close...

------

Here's a Maxx cover on wood of all things.  Pretty neat.

Albert Moy's brother Devyn did it for me..

Not bad quality either.. considering it's on a block of wood.

One more..

Here's another Maxx cover in progress..

This cover has glued in pieces of hand painted ( by me ) .. glass.

It also has pipe cleaners on it... very sophisticated, eh?  ( not!)

Yet another panel from a new book that I'm doing with John Layman.

Kinda went crazy with the textures in this one..

too much modeling paste can be a dangerous thing.

Trouble with these covers that have extra 3D elements is getting the detail to show in the scan. Almost easier to take a photo of it.

And second to last, yet another chance to draw an Egret... in said mystery project with Layman.

----

Okay, last bit:

In the comment section, (towards the bottom of my last 'buffalo post'), someone wrote about his friend who wasn't able to connect with me at the con. My total sympathies about your friend's troubles in line at Boston. You didn't mention your friend's name, but he can fee free to send a private or personal message to me at this email at Chickens:

bobo@chickensrevolt.com (bobo@chickensrevolt.com)

… and Wayshak will forward it along to me.

This also applies to anyone else who may wish to pass along a comment… or share things that they may wish to share privately with me of a more personal nature… instead of having to post them in the  comments section.

Because of my reclusive nature, while i can't promise I will reply to them, but at least whom-ever does writes to me there, can rest assured I their sentiments *will* reach me.

Thanks again, to everyone!

sometimes a guy's just gotta draw a bunch of little bitty buffalos.

a page that may.... or not make... it into the infamous "ten years in the making" Nola graphic novel.
